We’re Back!

Okay, okay, okay! So we haven’t kept  up the blog…..at all. Life is busy. Plus with all the social media outlets, we’ve taken the  road of least resistance to share updates on life. So, why are we back to our blog? Well, the answer is simple.

We. Are. Adopting. AGAIN!

That’s right, we’re adopting baby number two and are pretty darn excited about it. So is Gideon. He is ready to have “his” baby. As of yesterday he wanted a boy baby. A few months ago, it was a girl baby. Needless to say, we’re good with either. No gender preference for us!

Quick life update:

Gideon is now three years old. That’s right THREE! He’s awesome, funny, kind-hearted, a lot stubborn and all around a GREAT kid. We look at him in amazement on the daily, like this is really our kiddo and we get to raise him. What an honor.

Brian is still working at CrossRoads and is now the Director of Help Build Hope. That’s a nice title promotion and he’s doing amazing work with his team. They’ve had over 60 home builds this year and ya’ll that’s a lot of affordable housing for communities all over the United States! The HBH team is rocking it this year and I couldn’t be prouder.

I am going back to work today in my retail store as I’ve been recovering from hip surgery. It was quite the recovery and I still have some work to do but  it’s going way better than expected!

The adoption:

We are almost done with the home study part. The home study is where we gather every piece of paperwork ever known to man that concerns our life. From sharing information to how we each grew up to our bank statements to letters of reference to background checks to having our house inspected from top to bottom. It’s a lot of work to put this all together, but we are getting it done. It’s amazing how much the home study process has changed from our first go around five years ago. We’re starting from scratch since we just can’t use our old home study. That’s right. We start  completely over. But  hey, that’s the process.

Reflecting on what  we thought about adoption five years ago to know has vastly changed as we’ve gained more experience and education. We will share some of what we’ve learned as we continue our journey with  adoption number two.

We are excited to share this with you and are thankful you are on this journey with us! If you have any questions, just ask!
